When to Send Save-the-Date Cards Image
One of the most commonly met questions a wedding planner in Los Angeles comes across is when to send the save-the-date cards when planning the big day. Firstly, what are save-the-date-cards? They are memos which are sent before the wedding invitations announcing the guests that they are invited. This enables them to be able to note the date in their diaries and make their plans around the wedding date.

So what is the best time to send the save-the-date cards?

Our wedding planners in Los Angeles believe that the best time to send the save-the-date cards depends on the location and time of the wedding.

Generally, the save-the-date cards are sent between six to twelve months before the wedding date, with at least six months before the wedding being the absolute minimum. The guests will need time to arrange all the travel, the days off work and perhaps make all the arrangements for someone to take care of the children while they will be gone at the wedding, if the children are not invited.

If the wedding is taking place during a holiday weekend or during spring or winter holiday, the guests will appreciate the fact that they were given plenty of time to make their travel plans.

Sending the save-the-date cards well in advance avoids situations where a friend or relative already made travel arrangements to go in a holiday or rent a holiday house for a weekend, only to find out that the wedding is taking place in the same time. This will avoid any unpleasant events for them and will ensure they can attend the wedding without having to go through any unnecessary drama.

What if the guests live abroad or the wedding takes place during the summer holidays?

If some of the guests live abroad or the wedding is planned during the summer holidays, the best time to send the save-the-date cards is with nine to twelve months before the wedding date.

There are a lot of things to consider for the guests who live abroad, like valid passports, booking the airplane flights and accommodation, as well as having someone take care of the children.

All these being said, our Los Angeles wedding planners can help you come up with the most attractive and suitable save-the-date cards for your unique event – just get in touch with us for further advice.
